Course Description:
This course provides an introductory survey of world music from the cultural traditions of the Americas, Africa, Asia, Indonesia, India, and Europe. The course will focus on the cultural sources of world musical practices, on characteristics of rhythm, melody and composition, and on musical instruments. Field trips may be required.
