PSY V03 Intro to Biological Psychology


 
Course Description:
This course introduces the scientific study of the biological bases of behavior and its fundamental role in the neurosciences. The course emphasizes the anatomy and physiology of the central nervous system, including physiological, hormonal, and neurochemical mechanisms. Brain-behavior relationships underlying the psychological phenomena of sensation, perception, regulatory processes, emotion, learning, memory, and cognitive behavior including speech and language will be considered. Also addressed are drug use, psychological disorders, and brain pathology. Field trips may be required. Prerequisites: PSY V01. Recommended Prep: ENGL V02 or eligibility to enroll in English Composition (ENGL V01A) as determined by the college's multiple measures assessment process. Transfer credit: CSU; UC. C-ID PSY 150.
