Course Description:
This course introduces students to the interdisciplinary study of race and ethnicity in the United States and the world beyond. It examines social justice movements in relation to ethnic and racial groups in the United States to provide a basis for a better understanding of the socioeconomic, cultural and political conditions among Native American, African American, Asian American, and Latina and Latino American communities. Using an intersectional lens, we will explore colonialism, racism and social movements in the U.S. context. Field trips may be required. Transfer credit: CSU. C-ID SJS 110
